Rizin 47’s lineup continues to grow as the Japanese promotion announced four new matches for the June 9 card over the weekend.
The new booking will also include several Ultimate Fighting Championship veterans as Spike Carlyle takes on Kim Kyung Pyo. Kazuki Tokudome will take on Patrick Usami Sho and Johnny Case will take on Noah Bey, both in the lightweight division. Additionally, Mikio Ueda is scheduled to face Przemysław Kowalczyk in a heavyweight bout.
RIZIN 47 will be held at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, and will feature a bantamweight showdown between Kyoji Horiguchi and Sergio Pettis. Another notable contest will see Clever Koike Erbst take on Juan Archuleta at 145 pounds.
Carlyle is a three-time UFC veteran, but has lost his last three fights. Most recently, he dropped a three-round decision against Yoshinori Horie at RIZIN 44. South Korea’s Kim, a former Road to UFC competitor, has defeated Tural Ragimov and Usami in back-to-back finishes under the RIZIN banner.
Tokudume, who was in the Octagon from 2013 to 2014 with a 1-3 record, will return to action for the first time since losing by first-round submission to Roberto Satoshi de Souza at RIZIN 27 in 2021. The 24-year-old Usami was submitted to Kim at RIZIN 41 in April 2023, ending his two-fight winning streak in his last match.
Case, who has a 4-2 record in UFC competition, stopped Nobumitsu Osawa in 36 seconds at Bellator vs. RIZIN in December 2022 and ended a three-fight skid in his most recent appearance. Boa is best known for his kickboxing prowess, but he is 2-3 in MMA, coming off a unanimous decision victory over Yusaku Inoue at RIZIN 46 on April 29th.
Ueda has won three of his four professional bouts, including a second round TKO of Tsuyoshi Kamiyama at RIZIN 45 on December 31st. Poland’s Kowalczyk has won all three of his professional bouts in the local scene, finishing each one. Opponent within the round.
