Colby Covington’s recent calls have caught the attention of Charles Oliveira.
Covington recently turned down a potential fight with upstart welterweight Ian Garry, whom he had been pursuing for months. ‘Chaos’ has instead called for a ‘legacy fight’ with former lightweight champion Oliveira, who has admitted he is considering moving up to welterweight for his next bout.
As long as Oliveira remains in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, that possibility remains.
“The reality is, like I said, it’s sitting down and looking at the heritage, the history, the values,” Oliveira recently told Ag.Fight. I woke up in the morning and thousands of people were texting me.Sent to Diego [Lima] Diego said that too, I know what you’re thinking. I said, “Diego, let’s just sit down and talk and think and see what’s good and what the UFC thinks about it.” It’s not just what Charles thinks, it’s the UFC. What you think about it is important.
[Colby] He’s a talkative guy, he’s a well-spoken guy, so let’s see.Why not?…Sure [I’ll be willing to move up]. If it makes sense, if it’s good for me, why not do it? ”
But a fight with Covington isn’t the only possibility Oliveira is intrigued by.
“It’s now time for my managers, Diego Rivas and Jorge Patino, to work hard with the UFC to see what makes sense,” he said. [Conor

[Max] Holloway aims for BMF title. It’s a rematch of a fight that happened in 2015, so that’s great, but I got injured in the first round and couldn’t continue. Now I’m just waiting. ”
One possibility that “De Bronx” won’t consider is a matchup with Renato Carneiro, who recently challenged the former lightweight champion.
“I have a lot of respect for ‘Moicano,'” he said. “But right now my focus in this division is to be above me in the rankings.”
Oliveira lost a split decision to Arman Tsarukian at UFC 300, a fight that could have given him another shot at 155-pound gold had he won.
