Two heavyweight bouts have been rescheduled for the second round of the 2024 Professional Fighters League season.
Daniel James has withdrawn from his scheduled match against Tyrell Fortune on June 13th in PFL4. As a result, Marcelo Gorm will take his place and face Fortune in a regular season heavyweight bout. Meanwhile, Oleg Popov will face Davion Franklin after his original opponent Marcelo Nunes was absent from the fight on the same card. PFL 4 will be held at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and will feature regular season heavyweight and women’s flyweight matches. The main event of the night will see Valentin Moldavsky take on Linton Vassell.
Fortune and James were set to meet at PFL 1 before Fortune withdrew from the event. Fortune was scheduled to face Golm at Bellator 301 before the Brazilian was forced to withdraw due to illness. This will be Fortune’s PFL debut and his first bout since his DQ win over Sergey Birosteny at Bellator 294 in April 2023.
Meanwhile, Golm had a rematch with James at PFL 1, losing by technical knockout at 4:59 of the first round. Golm, a 31-year-old native of Sao Paulo, had fought James one fight earlier, losing by TKO in the third round. Bellator 293.
Popov has only lost once in 18 professional matches. The Russian is coming off a two-round stoppage of Steve Mowry in PFL 1. Popov has won 16 straight fights and hasn’t suffered a loss since November 2016.
Franklin will enter the PFL season fresh off a loss to Slim Trabelsi in his last match at Bellator 300, injuring his leg at 3:01 of round one. “All Day” made his mark while only competing in Bellator, where he has a career record of 6 wins and 2 losses.
