Former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship featherweight champion Conor Hitchens has died at the age of 26.
The European promotion team confirmed the news in a social media post on Tuesday. International Mixed Martial Arts Federation President Kellis Brown also released a statement regarding Hitchens’ death. Hitchens’ cause of death has not been disclosed.
“On behalf of the entire International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Connor Hitchens,” Brown said in a statement. “We are forever grateful to Conor for joining the IMMAF platform and proudly representing the British national team as a distinguished athlete at the 2015 and 2016 European and World Championships. We extend our deepest condolences to Connor’s family and loved ones.”
Hitchens, a native of Preston, England, has a 6-2 record in his professional MMA career that began in 2018. In April 2022, he made his only appearance on Cage Warriors at CW 136, losing to Manny Akpan by second-round knockout. Hitchens did not compete again after that loss.
