Rising bantamweight Carlo Bhuminaan handily defeated Chayan Orzak to secure his fifth ONE Championship victory at the ONE Friday Fights 65 bantamweight showcase at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.
Bhuminan (5-0, 5-0 ONE) came out strong, taking down his opponent with a straight left kick, then slammed him to the mat and unleashed a barrage of strikes from mount. Orzak (8-3, 3-1 ONE), bloodied from his face from the assault, quickly squirmed and turned his back to Bhuminan. But the Russian was also adept at ground fighting, figuring out Bhuminan’s submission attempts. With under a minute left in the round and no submission in sight, Bhuminan fought his way to his feet, fighting his opponent and finishing the round with several powerful kicks to the head and body.
In the second round, Buminan again took down Orzak with a straight left within the first minute, but Orzak managed to avoid ground-and-pound attacks and get to his feet, only to be hit again by a flurry of left punches before submitting via ninja choke at 2 minutes and 39 seconds into the second round.
Meanwhile, Ryosuke Honda (13-4, 2-1 ONE) won a hard-fought three-round strawweight bout against Ryosuke Noda (6-4, 0-1 ONE) by unanimous decision.
The first round saw both fighters feeling each other out before Honda took down Noda with a brutal straight left. Honda was able to keep Noda on the canvas for the rest of the round, but the 28-year-old continued to fight from the bottom to avoid a submission, narrowly escaping a guillotine attempt near the end of the round.
Unfortunately, things were no different in the second round, where Honda was quick to catch a head kick and force Noda to pay the price by dropping him to the canvas, overpowering Honda with the same pressure and control for most of the stanza. Although his kick-first-punch approach allowed him to have some success in the stand-up, Noda was unable to do much damage to Honda in the third round. A clearly exhausted Honda kept his guard up in the final round, occasionally landing check right hooks on Noda despite receiving two unintentional headbutts and two head kicks. Honda eventually finished the bout by standing over Noda, looking to inflict as much damage as he could before the final bell rang.
The rest of the card was contested under Muay Thai rules. In the main event, Jaosuayai Mo Krungthepthongburi knocked out Puenruang Baanramba at 2:11 in the first round in a flyweight bout.
