Alex Pereira recently revealed his potential opponents and timeline for his return.
Prochaska successfully defended his light heavyweight title for the second time with a first-round knockout win over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 in April. “Poitan” is currently aiming to return in August, but nothing has been set in stone yet.
The two most logical opponents for Pereira are Jiri Prochazka and Magomed Ankalaev, but the Brazilian claims he is already in negotiations for a rematch with Prochazka.
“I’m not a guy who talks shit. I’m not a guy who picks fights. If they want me to fight, [I’ll fight]”But the one on the list right now is Jiri Prochazka,” Pereira recently told Sportsnet, “so we’re still in negotiations… I don’t know, we’re still in discussions. We’d like to have the fight around August, but nothing concrete has been decided yet.”
Ankalaev is the better grappling of the two opponents, but Pereira maintains that Ankalaev has yet to show all he is capable of on the ground.
“Well, they have different styles. Everyone talks about Ankalaev, about his ground. [game] But they don’t know my position
[game]”But neither [have]
There are many different fighting styles.”
Prochazka first faced Pereira at UFC 295, losing by second-round knockout in a light heavyweight title bout at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Czech Republic native returned with a win, stopping Aleksandar Rakic in the second round at UFC 300 on April 13. Ankalaev, meanwhile, is unbeaten in his last 12 Octagon bouts and is most recently coming off a knockout win over Johnny Walker at UFC Fight Night 234 in January.
