Khabib Nurmagomedov reportedly voiced global concerns during a conversation with President Donald Trump at UFC 302.
Nurmagomedov was in the corner of his teammate Islam Makhachev as he defended his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier in the main event of Saturday’s UFC 302. Former President Donald Trump, no stranger to UFC pay-per-views, was in attendance at the event, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Nurmagomedov was seen exchanging words with Trump after Makhachev’s fifth-round submission win over Poirier. American Kickboxing Academy coach Javier Mendez later revealed the contents of “The Eagle” and Trump’s conversation. According to Mendez, Nurmagomedov pleaded with Trump to take steps to stop the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian war.
“In fact, Khabib said he met him. [and]”I was told, ‘Can’t you do something about the Palestinian war? Stop the war.’ War is not good for humanity,” Mendes told Red Corner MMA. “Humanity, we all need to love each other and care for each other. For me it’s not about this or that, it’s about humanity. And we all need to have compassion for our fellow men, women and children, especially children. So I’m not against anybody, I’m just against anything that harms humanity.”
“Donald Trump had the best response in the entire arena. The whole place went wild for Donald Trump. I hope he joins us again because he’s a businessman. He’s a businessman first. He’s committed to humanity. Donald Trump is the right man for the job for America and the world.”
