Shamil Musaev is continuing his strong form as he advances to the Professional Fighters League postseason for the first time.
The 30-year-old Russian boxer secured the No. 1 seed in the welterweight division on Friday night at PFL6 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with a second-round technical knockout of Murad Ramazanov. The KSW veteran is unbeaten in 17 professional fights, but will need two consecutive wins against the same opponent to advance to the 170-pound division. The fight will be a rematch of No. 4 seed Ramazanov, who handed him his first professional defeat on Friday, on August 23 at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, the other welterweight semifinal will see No. 2 seed Magomed Umalatov take on No. 3 seed Don Mudge.

Meanwhile, Brendan Loughnane secured the No. 1 seed and is in serious contention for a second PFL featherweight title after winning the main event against Justin Gonzalez by technical knockout at 3:34 of the second round. A powerful knee from the British veteran opened a large gash on Gonzalez’s forehead, prompting the cageside doctor to stop the bout. Loughnane will face No. 4 seed Kai Kamaka III in the 145-pound semifinals. Meanwhile, No. 2 seed Gabriel Bulaga, a 2023 finalist, will face No. 3 seed Timur Khizliev on the other side of the bracket.
After a short break, the PFL playoffs will begin on August 2 at Nashville Civic Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee with the heavyweight and women’s flyweight semifinals.
