Colby Covington recently raved about Ian Garry and Michael Page’s performance at UFC 303 on Saturday.
Garry and Page started off the UFC 303 main card at T-Mobile Arena with an ultimately lukewarm bout, with Page doing well in the stand-up, while Garry dominated “MVP” on the ground to earn a unanimous decision victory.
Covington believes Garry lost the fight. Garry had long been fighting to face Conor McGregor, who was scheduled to main event UFC 303 but pulled out due to a broken toe. Covington called Garry “Conor McGregor” and mocked his “future” being “left at the altar” by McGregor.
“I feel bad for the fans. They were robbed of an opening for the pay-per-view,” Covington told Submission Radio. “That was supposed to be the opening. [on] Pay-per-view. It was pathetic. That guy [Garry]
I was fighting the 14th ranked guy. [Page] “He was the biggest star in the world and he was just surviving. I think he lost the fight, so I feel sorry for the fans, they got scammed. And it just shows how much of a loser he is. He’s like, ‘Yeah, I want to be on Conor McGregor’s card.’ He’s called ‘Conor McGregor’ so he was willing to do anything to be on Conor McGregor’s card. He wants to be Conor McGregor so he went to all sorts of lengths to be on Conor McGregor’s card and then Conor left him at the altar. I thought that was pretty funny.”
Garry has been slamming Covington ever since “Chaos” launched his online tirade against the Irishman. Garry has repeatedly accused Covington of dodging him, while White recently
Claimed The former interim champion has never shied away from a fight.
Covington also doubled down on his criticism of Garry’s wife. Further casting doubt on Garry’s star status, Covington pointed out that the unbeaten welterweight had not been promoted to the co-main event bracket despite the fight being in jeopardy multiple times.
“I thought he was a star. I thought Ian Garry was a big name. What the hell happened? Their co-main events got canceled like six or seven times,” Covington said. “They had guys who were already on the card, so why couldn’t they move him up to the co-main event? I think you can see how UFC feels about him. He’s a total nobody, a no-good guy, has nothing to talk about. They keep talking about the GOAT. His only GOAT is his wife, and she’s the GOAT of the throat. You can tell.”
Covington was critical of Gary’s performance but claims he didn’t actually watch Saturday night’s fight.
“You think I’m going to watch two boxers fight on a Saturday night on pay-per-view? There’s more to life than that, brother,” Covington said. “I’m a billionaire star athlete. I’ve got to go out on a Saturday night and enjoy life. I’m not watching a fight, much less two shitty boxers in my weight class.”
Covington hasn’t fought since losing his title in a one-sided manner to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 in December 2023. The former interim champion is 2-3 since 2019, with all of those losses coming in title fights.
