Bellator Champions Series San Diego has several notable fighters confirmed to compete.
The organization announced Wednesday that Douglas Lima, Lorenz Larkin and Laufeon Stotts will compete on the card, which will take place at Pechanga Arena in San Diego on Sept. 7. Lima will face Aaron Jeffery at middleweight and Larkin will face Levan Chokeri at welterweight, while Stotts will face Marcos Breno at bantamweight in the night’s co-main event.
The main event of Bellator Champions Series San Diego will be a lightweight title fight between Usman Nurmagomedov and Alexandre Chabry, and the card will be broadcast in its entirety in the United States on Max.
Lima, a former Bellator welterweight champion, will be returning to action for the first time in over a year. In his last bout, the 36-year-old Brazilian ended a four-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision win over Costello Van Steenis at Bellator 296 in May 2023.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey is 3-2 under Bellator’s umbrella. The Dana White Contender Series alumnus last competed at Bellator Champions Series Belfast, where he lost by points to current number one middleweight contender Fabian Edwards.
Larkin returned from an extended break at PFL6 on June 28, defeating Allan Dominguez by first-round knockout in a showcase bout. “Monsoon” has only lost one of his past 10 professional fights.
Chokeri has won three straight bouts in his promotional career, including a first-round knockout of Sabah Homasi at Bellator 299 in September of this year.
Stotts, a Bellator Bantamweight Grand Prix finalist, has won 20 of his 22 professional bouts and came back from a loss in the 135-pound final to Patrick Mix by beating Danny Sabatello in three rounds at Bellator 301 last November.
Brazil’s Breno has won and lost his first two bouts in Bellator, while the 26-year-old Teixeira MMA & Fitness boss is fresh off a second-round submission loss to Sabatello at Bellator 294.
