Ahead of UFC 304, lightweight Paddy Pimblett reiterated that he is nearing the end of his current UFC contract, which ends on Saturday. The 29-year-old said he would re-sign with UFC in the hopes that the fighter would keep him. His manager Graham Boylan (who also promotes Cage Warriors Fighting Championships, where Pimblett competed before joining UFC) said Friday that his new contract has been signed with the promotion. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, other than Boylan saying his fighter was “greatly compensated.” Pimblett also said during the fifth episode of “UFC 304 Embedded” that he would remain under contract with the company.
“Buddy has signed a new contract. [the] “UFC,” Boylan wrote on social media, “is very happy he got the recognition and compensation he deserves. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
The Liverpudlian begins his new contract with the organization with a tough next test on the main card of UFC 304 against Bobby Green, where the organization will present “The Buddy” with custom orange fight shorts. Prior to this bout, Pimbret had won seven straight bouts, including five at UFC. Over the past two years, he has defeated Tony Ferguson and Jared Gordon (the latter in a hard-fought bout) by two-round decisions, ending a streak of finishes in the second round or earlier.
