Talita Alencar welcomed Stephanie Luciano into the Octagon to kick off UFC Las Vegas 95 on Saturday.
The bout was a rematch of their 2023 Contender Series showdown that ended in a draw. Both fighters are signed to UFC, with Luciano making his UFC debut and Alencar coming off a win over Leanne Amanda dos Santos earlier this year.
Alencar started the fight with a head kick that landed cleanly, but Luciano laughed it off. From there, Luciano controlled the distance and landed the more effective strikes. After the first round, it was clear that Alencar had to take the fight, as he was behind in the stand-up.
In the second round, Alencar actually got a quick takedown, but it didn’t last long as Luciano quickly got back up. Luciano started to move quickly and landed on the outside, but when Alencar closed the distance, Luciano was too strong on the inside. Luciano landed some nice head kicks and although Alencar was strong, he couldn’t do anything about it in that round.
The biggest moment of the fight came in the third round, when Luciano took Alencar down with a knee. As in the first and second rounds, Alencar struggled to get up and looked in pain. Luciano barely broke a sweat and won the decision, earning a clear victory in the rematch.
Official result: Stephanie Luciano defeats Talita Alencar by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
