WASHINGTON, DC — As the Professional Fighters League’s business continues to grow and expand, decision makers have a lot to fall back on.
With the announcement that PFL MENA will launch in 2024 and PFL Africa in 2025, joining the already established PFL Europe, the vision of Don Davis, Peter Murray and team continues to be realised. Speaking to media at the PFL Semi-Finals event in Washington DC last weekend, Davis spoke to media on a range of topics, including his pride in the PFL’s success to date.
When asked by Sherdog.com about the success and opportunities that PFL offers in various forms, Davis not only spoke passionately about the avenues the company can provide, but also how accessible it is to everyday people striving to improve.
“Look, there’s a sign on the cage steps that says, ‘What do you fight for?'” Davis said. “Fighters are fighting to advance their careers, make money, become champions, but everyone is a fighter. I’m fighting to build this company. You’re all fighting to be better reporters. We’re all fighting to make our parents proud, to buy a house, to send our kids to college, to maybe have a million dollars for retirement. We’re all fighting for something.”
It’s not just about fighting for something, but for Davis, he takes pride in what makes the PFL uniquely different and its ability to be another option for fighters.
“The PFL is able to provide opportunity and not be controlled by anybody, and that’s something I take great pride in,” Davis said. “To be able to provide choice for the fans? That’s something I take great pride in. To be able to grow the sport? That’s something I take great pride in. That opportunity is at the heart of what we’re trying to do and we’re proud of it.”
The Professional Fighters League isn’t defined by just one goal: Whether it’s the PFL International League or the PFL Global Season, which features six different weight divisions to determine a champion, the PFL has multiple paths for fighters to succeed.
Davis has spent a lot of time this year trying to get the word out that the organization wants to be not only recognized as a co-leader in MMA, but also an alternative for fight fans, with the goal of becoming the “Champions League of MMA” as the international league continues to expand.
PFL has stayed true to its mission and has continued to evolve its plan each year with success. Its unique season and points format gives fans a new way to watch MMA while providing fighters with new opportunities and peers to not only compete but become champions in just one calendar year.
As the PFL and its operations continue to grow from both a logistical and entertainment standpoint, Don Davis and the entire PFL executive team have a lot to be proud of.
