Aljamain Sterling claims to have heard potentially damaging rumours about his next opponent, Movsar Evloev.
Sterling is scheduled to face the unbeaten Russian at UFC 307 on Oct. 5 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The former bantamweight champion recently raised serious allegations of PED use against Evloev, which Evloev vehemently denies and issued a stern warning.

You can talk now, but after a fight you’re silent. Accusing without evidence is how you respond when you lose.

Where I come from, making such false accusations will not end well for you. But since I am a businessman, I will punish you and get my reward. Just don’t back out.

Evloev also uploaded a photo of what appeared to be a urine sample and hinted at a visit from UFC’s anti-doping partner, Drug Free Sport International.
I started complaining and a friend stopped by but it didn’t help! What’s the next excuse?

But Sterling has recently doubled down on his accusations. “The Funkmaster” claims the rumors he’s heard about Evloev rival those about former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw before his arrest. Dillashaw’s former teammate Cody Garbrandt accused him of teaching his entire Alpha Male team to use PEDs for years, but no one paid any attention until he was finally arrested in 2019. Sterling is similarly convinced that Evloev is using PEDs, regardless of whether the Russian fighter will one day test positive.
“The rumors I’ve heard, he’s not a clean athlete. No matter what everybody says, there’s no proof,” Sterling told Home of Fight. “I’m like, ‘Hey, it’s the same thing years ago when everybody was saying TJ Dillashaw was telling everybody how to do it. Cody Garbrandt accused him in a press conference and everybody covered it up and said to TJ’s face that he was telling everybody in the gym how to do it.’ Those conversations aren’t too different from what I did with Mobsar, and I don’t think there’s fire without fire. Have I seen the guy stick a needle in his ass or anything? No. Has it blown up on anything yet? No. It probably won’t blow up. But at the end of the day, only he and his mind know if he’s truly a clean athlete or not. I think he truly knows he cheated.”
However, the PED allegations won’t stop Sterling from fighting Evloev at UFC 307. Sterling claims he has fought opponents in the past who were using banned substances, even if they weren’t caught. “The Funkmaster” is brave enough to take any fight, but claims that accusing his opponents of cheating is just his way of doing things.
“That’s the reality. I’m going to fight him,” Sterling said. “Whether I got caught or not, I’ve fought multiple guys who did stuff. That’s the reality. I’m a gamer. I just want them to know, ‘I know what you’re doing.’ It has nothing to do with making excuses. I’m just saying things like it is. If people want to call it an excuse, hey, I’m going to fight the guy whether I’ve spoken about it before or not. People get attacked. I call them out. That’s my history for years. So I’m not going to take anything that’s not third-party verified.”
