Dana White, CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, was a special guest at a recent luncheon hosted by the Latino Chamber of Commerce.
During the session, held at Durango Casino & Resort, White spoke with Las Vegas entrepreneurs about a variety of topics, including the promotion’s growth and the UFC 306 event at The Sphere, which will mark Mexican Independence Day. White also announced a donation to the Latino Chamber of Commerce.
“I love supporting small businesses,” White said (via UFC.com). “I love hearing stories about people who are just starting out and what they’re doing, and I want to support them in any way I can — not just spend money or buy stuff from them, but help get them noticed and get people to try their product.”UFC 306: O’Malley vs. DvalishviliSaturday at 10pm ET on ESPN+. White also spoke about why it’s so important for UFC to expand into Mexico and other Latin American markets.
“I’ve always wanted a fighter who could connect with the world the way Julio Cesar Chavez did for me,” White said, “and Mexico has always been an important market for me. There’s a lot to like about Mexicans. I always say that some of the most vicious human beings that have ever lived on the planet are Mexicans.”
With UFC 306 fast approaching, it was the perfect opportunity for White to show his appreciation for Mexican culture.
“This event at the Sphere takes place on Mexican Independence Day and to me, this is a love letter to Mexico,” White said. “There’s a lot I love about Mexicans: they’re hard-working, they value family and they’re so proud of who they are and where they come from.”
