Ahead of its blockbuster show in September, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has ventured into the world of science fiction to add a bit of glamour.
According to a press release issued by UFC and Proto Inc. on Thursday, the promotion will install a series of holograms. Figures, including UFC president Dana White, will appear on life-size screens and interact with fans and the general public. “Top athletes from the UFC roster will make appearances,” the release said, without disclosing their names. The machines will be on display in the Sphere’s main lobby. White said in a previous interview that the operating costs for UFC 306 are significantly higher than any previous UFC show. The event will take place in Las Vegas on Sept. 14.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring the Proto hologram to the Sphere for the very first time at Noche UFC,” enthused Proto CEO David Nussbaum. “UFC is known for delivering unforgettable experiences, and now, with our cutting-edge hologram technology, fans will have the jaw-dropping opportunity to rub shoulders with their favorite fighters and even Dana White himself.”
Earlier this week, White hinted at more surprises in store during the event: The organization is producing six short films celebrating UFC and Mexico’s contributions to combat sports, which will feature several “Easter eggs.” The first eagle-eyed fan to find them all will receive a $25,000 prize, White said.
