As a matchmaker for the Professional Fighters League’s European Series, former fighter Dan Hardy takes great pride in scouting diamonds in the rough. Dan Hardy has been instrumental in PFL’s growth, particularly in the European market. Hardy, a matchmaker and commentator, has established a revolving door of up-and-coming talent on European rosters as PFL Europe sends out 2023 champions Jacob Nedeau and Dakota Ditcheva to the 2024 PFL Global season. Ahead of the PFL game against Glasgow, Hardy spoke to Sherdog about what to expect in the semi-final and how he sees his role within the organization.
The main event of the PFL Europe 3 Playoffs will see Scottish submission specialist Stephen Rea take on Welsh veteran Lewis Long in a showcase match. On Thursday, Ray said he would like to work in the PFL after his career is over. The transition from fighter to worker is something Hardy himself has experienced, and he hopes more fighters will make that transition.
“Yeah, 100% I was just talking to Paul Craig about this,” Hardy said. “He said the same thing, like, ‘What do we do after that?'” [fighting]?’We need these fighters to stay in the sport of mixed martial arts. We need more fighters to be more involved at all levels of the sport. The main reason for that is because they know what the fighters are going through and they know what this week is like for them. It’s no surprise that there are people like Stevie Ray after his playing days. Keep these people close to the organizations that will help build it. ”
As PFL Europe’s second season races towards December’s championship final, Hardy can’t help but reflect on the young stars who have already blossomed from the league, including undefeated flyweight Dycheva. . The office worker is proud of the success of the players he helped bring into the league.
“It represents the fighters. It represents the sport of mixed martial arts. It represents the sport of mixed martial arts. These fighters follow their dreams, build careers out of their hobbies, strive for greatness, and inspire those around them. Creating opportunities. That’s what’s really important to me. PFL, the platform, has given me the opportunity to do this, and it always comes back to the fighters,” Hardy said.
He continued, “We needed to make sure our fighters were well taken care of, well respected and had very meaningful careers. They continued to win and won European belts. , moving on to a worldwide roster, etc. The path is laid out for you so you can focus on being the best you can be. Trying to get this top 15 opponent, criticizing this guy. , there are no politics that can be very discouraging. There is a clear path here.”
Hardy is expecting an exciting night ahead of Saturday’s semi-final in Glasgow, Scotland. Although some fights have seen a wide range of betting lines, Hardy believes this matchup is closer on paper than it looks.
“We have cards that are stacked with even matchups. That’s what I like about these cards. I put fighters into matchups where they can certainly win, but where they can definitely lose. “That’s what’s most interesting to the fans,” concluded the man known as “The Outlaw.”
