It is now official that the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight and women’s bantamweight titles will be contested at UFC 307.
In the main event of the 12-fight card, Alex Pereira will put his light heavyweight title on the line against Khalil Rountree, while in the co-main event, Raquel Pennington will look to defend her bantamweight title for the first time against former champion Julianna Pena. . All four participants in the title fight and the rest of the card played important roles.
Since losing his middleweight title to Israel Adesanya, Pereira (11-2) has had an impressive run at light heavyweight. “Poitan” is currently on a four-fight winning streak, including a second-round TKO win over Jiri Prochaska, as well as victories over Jan Blachowicz and Jamahal Hill. The Brazilian athlete officially stepped on the scale, marking 205 pounds at the time.
Meanwhile, Rountree (13-5, 1 NC) enters his first UFC title fight on a five-fight win streak. ‘War Horse’ lived up to his nickname, defeating four of his opponents by TKO, including Anthony Smith, Chris Dorkaus and Carl Roberson. The 34-year-old underdog also weighed in at 205 pounds for this fight.
The main card of UFC 307 will air live on ESPN+ pay-per-view on Saturday at 10pm ET/7pm PT. Prelims begins at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT on ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass, then moves to 8pm ET/5pm PT on ESPN+ and ESPNews.
