Another talented flyweight made his debut at UFC Vegas 98 when Uzbekistan’s Ramazan Temirov took on CJ Vergara.
Ramazan entered the UFC on a nine-fight win streak and was unbeaten since 2019. Vergara, a DWCS veteran, is 2-2 in his last four fights, with one loss coming to that night’s headliner, Tatsuro Hirata.
There was a lot of hype behind Temirov coming into the fight, and he more than lived up to it.
The match started with a roundhouse kick to the body from Ramazan Temirov. Temirov escaped early with kicks from both sides and loop punches. Sure, Temirov was swinging for the fences at times, but Vergara had been waiting too long. Eventually, Temirov dropped Vergara with a lunging left hook and swarmed him. Vergara then stood up and landed a big right hook. Temirov didn’t let up the pressure and was dropping bombs. Vergara covered as much as possible, giving the referee an opportunity to stay in the match. He couldn’t do that. In the end, a left hook to the body broke Vergara and Temirov won by TKO.
Official results: Ramazan Temirov def. CJ Vergara, TKO (body punch), round 1, 2:50
