Shavkat Rakhmonov is said to have tapped out Ian Garry during sparring.
Rachmonov and Gary will co-headline UFC 310 on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The undefeated welterweights previously trained together at Killcliff FC in Florida. ‘Nomad’ continues to train there, but Garry has since moved to Chute Boxe Diego Lima in Brazil.
Ahead of the bout, Garry released old sparring footage with Rakhmonov, in which the Irishman looked in good form. Kazakhs have since accused Garry of only releasing the parts of the footage that look good. Rakhmonov recently claimed that he strangled Garry during the same session.
Rakhmonov said Garry’s wife asked to be allowed to film the sparring session but not to make it public. Rakhmonov believes that the rest of the album was never released because “The Future” could have been tapped out.
“At that time, his wife asked me if she could film him sparring, and I accepted,” Rakhmonov told Ariel Helwani. “But they didn’t ask me if they could release it. And I wonder why they didn’t release the other parts of the sparring… [We would have
seen] How to tap Ian Garry. ”
This is not the first time Garry has been embroiled in gym controversy, having previously been kicked out of Leon Edwards’ Team Renegades in Birmingham, England.
