As revealed this week on the Brazilian podcast Mundo da Ruta, Rickson Gracie, who is currently battling Parkinson’s disease, will not appear in his son Kron Gracie’s corner when he returns to the Octagon at UFC 310.
Gracie will face Bryce Mitchell in a featherweight pairing on the main card Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“I really hope he has a good game,” Hickson said. “I want him to win, but right now I’m giving him space and we have a certain understanding. And now he has the freedom to make decisions about his life in the best way.” There’s room. I’ll pray for him, but I’m going to stay home and watch.”
However, Sherdog learns that when Elio Gracie’s grandson enters Okagon, he has a powerful team around him. In addition to training partner Nate Diaz, Cron will have support from Rickson’s close friend Sergio Zweiter. Sergio Zweiter was the only person present at all of Rickson’s games.
“Hickson is like a brother to me. I’ve been attending his jiu-jitsu matches since he was 17 years old and all of his ValliTudo matches,” Zweiter said. “I was with him during his two fights with King Zulu, both Japan Opens, and even his famous challenge at the Luta Libre headquarters in 1988. We were together. I received my black belt from the hands of Master Helio Gracie, and I know he wants me to go, and I’ll go there.”
Considered a legend in the Brazilian legal world, Mr. Zbeiter is a two-time member of Congress and has been a lawyer for Lede Globo, Latin America’s largest telecommunications company, for more than 20 years. And despite his busy schedule at the end of 2024, Zweiter didn’t hesitate when he received a call from his “nephew Kron” informing him of the fight.
“There is nothing more important to me,” he said. “I saw Kron being born. He’s like a son to me. Continue [Dec. 5]arrive virtually on the day of battle and return home [Dec. 8]. Nate would be the main cornerman, but Cron wanted me there. I did the same thing with Rickson that I’m doing with Cron now. ”
