At UFC 310, Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado-Galley battle it out for five rounds to become the No. 1 contender, as the two undefeated welterweights battle it out for the title against UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad. Ta.
The match did not go as many expected, as Garry was able to defend all his takedowns throughout two rounds, but Rachmonov was forced to fight on his feet. The first round was all wrestling.
The second round was more of a wrestling affair, but with no takedowns from Rachmonov, Garry was able to confidently attack the legs with kicks. Throughout the second and third rounds, it was Garry who defended takedowns and scored points with kicks to the leg and diagonal kicks.
In the fourth round, it looked like the No. 1 contender had finally got Garry where he wanted to be when he got the first takedown of the fight with just under three minutes left in the round. Garry spent time on his back, using his body triangle to keep Rakumonov in position and avoid damage.
Eventually he got back to his feet, but was taken down again and Rakhmonv was on top for the rest of the round.
In the fifth round, Rachmonov was able to fend off Gary’s kick attacks, get a takedown, and maintain control until the end. Rakhmonov earned his first decision victory and solidified his title shot against UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad.
