Cyril Gane shows X-rays of his leg injury after the fight against Alexander Volkov 😳
“At the beginning of the first round I not only broke my toe, but also both metatarsals. Needless to say, I didn’t have any legs left, but we didn’t give up and fought with them.”

As he hinted after the fight, Cyril Gane suffered early interference in his rematch with Alexander Volkov at UFC 310.
Gane revealed the extent of the injury sustained Monday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in a social media post on Monday. In addition to a broken toe, Bon Gamin also appears to have injured two metatarsals in his foot. The Frenchman told Joe Rogan in his post-match interview that he broke his toe in the opening stanza.
“It wasn’t just the big toe that hurt me at the start of the first round, it was also the two metatarsals,” Gane said on his Instagram Story. “I mean, I didn’t have any legs, but we fought with our heads and didn’t give up.”
Despite the injury, Gane defeated Volkov by a controversial split decision in a heavyweight showdown. Many observers thought Volkov deserved a nomination, including 19 of the 20 media scorecards tracked by MMADecisions.com.
Gane himself was not thrilled with this performance, as he tried to leave the Octagon without saying a word after the official verdict was announced.
“This made me frustrated with my fight.” [injury]” Gane said in the post-match media session. “It was frustrating because I started training for this fight in July and you started it like this, like the first moment you landed.”
Despite this, Gane is currently 2-0 against Volkov. The 34-year-old MMA factory product is on a two-fight winning streak since losing to Jon Jones in their heavyweight title bout at UFC 285.
