Jan Blachowicz is participating in a secret training camp in preparation for his upcoming fight.
Blachowicz is scheduled to face Carlos Wolberg at UFC Fight Night 255 on February 22nd at the O2 Arena in London. Although the former light heavyweight champion primarily focuses on striking, Blachowicz won’t hesitate to use wrestling when necessary. Blachowicz will be returning to the Octagon after a hiatus of more than a year and a half, but a matchup with Ulberg could cost him the title. And the Polish powerhouse will focus on rallying to win the title if he can get his hands on it.
“he [is a] A stand-up fighter, I’m a stand-up fighter,” Blachowicz recently told James Lynch. “But if I have to use my wrestling, I’ll go and do it because it’s mixed martial arts…but I like to fight stand-up, so people certainly punch a lot.” We’ll see… I want to win in time… If we win this match in a good way, I’ll just start talking about the match, nothing else.”
Blachowicz will primarily train with the WCA Fight Team, but will spend several days at another facility before the fight, which he declined to name. The 41-year-old is confident in his skill set, but wants to shape his training regimen a bit to develop his gas tank.
“[The camp is] It’s a secret now…something needs to change,” Blachowicz said. “Because 42 [years] largely. So you have to train a little differently. But we’re going to do something similar. I know how to beat people. I know how to fight. The most important thing to concentrate on is that you don’t want to get tired from fighting. So I have to focus on cardio. I got everything. I have knockout punching power, I have good striking, I have good wrestling, I have a good jiu-jitsu match. You need to focus on aerobic exercise. I was breathing very hard in my last match against Pereira, so I don’t want to make a mistake like this again. ”
Blachowicz last dropped a split decision to Alex Pereira at UFC 291 in July 2023, and has 1 win and 2 losses in his last four fights, including a draw with Magomed Ankalaev. He has a record of 1 minute and a winning streak including 5 finishes.
