Diego Lopez wants to avenge the loss of the only Ultimate Fighting Championship of his career after an impressive finish against Sodiq Yusaf.
At UFC 300 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Lopez knocked out Yousaf in less than 90 seconds, earning his third straight victory with a first-round stoppage victory. Lopez was seen jumping outside the Octagon immediately after his win and talking to Dana White. Lopez later revealed that he is asking the UFC CEO for a rematch with Movsar Evloev, who ruined the Brazilian’s UFC debut in May 2023. Lopez came close to submitting Evloev at UFC 288, but ultimately lost by unanimous decision. .
“Next International Fight Week is Mohsar. Give me a rematch…I think the first fight says it all,” Lopez said in the post-fight media scrum. “I think they’re saying that whatever fight happens after that, I deserve a rematch.”
Since then, Lopez has racked up three first-round stoppage wins, while Evloev earned a decision win over Arnold Allen at UFC 297 in January, which White publicly criticized. Lopez named Evloev “Mr.” According to the Brazilian, the only match White liked was against him.
“I think it’s really funny that he said on social media that my biggest accomplishment was fighting him,” Lopez said. “And I went back on social media and said to him, ‘Your greatest accomplishment is to make Dana White look like the fight you were involved in.’ [in]which I was involved with [in]. That’s why I like to call him a decisive person. I also coined the word “Mr.” decision. ‘I think his work speaks for itself, and I think my work speaks for me. ”
