Don Mudge vs. Brennan Ward was fun until it lasted a long time.
At 2024 PFL 3 on Thursday, Mudge (11-4-1) defeated Ward (17-8) via rear-naked choke 62 seconds into the first round. The event took place at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena.
Despite being short, this fight showed a little bit of everything. Ward landed a beautiful judo throw on Madge. Rather than struggle, Ward forced Madge to retreat. Ward bit the mouthpiece and threw the bomb away. Some connected. Some did not. Madge tightens up on Ward and puts a beautiful knee to his forehead. The blow froze Ward and tore his body apart.
Stunned, Ward attempted another judo throw, but did not have the grip or strength to do so. Madge landed on top of him. Ward scrambles to his feet, but Madge climbs onto his back for a rear-naked choke and taps.
