CHICAGO – Magomed Umalatov didn’t come away from his big win over Andrei Koreshkov unscathed, but he’s happy with the final result.
In the 2024 PFL 3 main event, Umalatov (15-0 MMA, 6-0 PFL) continues his undefeated streak with a unanimous decision win over Koreshkov (27-5 MMA, 0-1 PFL). They held on and earned three points. Welterweight standings.
For Umalatov, this fight means more than just raising his hand, he adds a name he has respected throughout his career to his resume.
“He’s a well-known guy in Russia and a former Bellator champion,” Umalatov told reporters at the post-fight press conference. “I used to watch his fights when I was an amateur too. He’s a legend so I’m happy to beat him today. After this fight I’ll have more confidence. 15-0 , I’m undefeated. I won against a very strong player, so I’m just looking forward.”
Don Mudge and Murad Ramazanov both scored six points in the first round, while Shamil Musaev came off the bench in the second round and scored five points. Umalatov, along with Goichi Yamauchi, has three points and it will be a close battle in the second round in June.
Umalatov finished the match with an injury to his right arm after applying an ice pack to his limbs while answering questions from reporters. However, he didn’t seem too worried about the injury and delivered an unforgettable message to his future opponents this season.
“Get ready, I’m coming to take over.”
