In a dramatic night in Brooklyn, New York, American Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney three times to win by a majority of points.
Garcia’s left hook became his biggest weapon as previously undefeated world champion Haney was defeated in the seventh, 10th, and 11th rounds.
The scorecards were 112-112, 114-110, 115-109 in favor of Garcia.
However, the California native was unable to capture Haney’s WBC light welterweight title as he missed the contest weight.
Did you really think I was crazy? You all lost your mind,” said Garcia, who was criticized for his actions during the build-up.
The 25-year-old has posted a series of erratic, unsubstantiated and defamatory posts on social media in recent months.
“You guys are doing too much of everything,” Garcia added. Although it improved his record to 25-1, it was Haney’s first loss in 32 professional games.
“I’m disappointed in my performance,” said Haney, 25, who made the mark. “I [showed I] He was a true champion and could fight even when he was down. ”
The pair entered the ring six times as amateurs and each won three times, but it was Garcia, the underdog who was 3.2 pounds underweight, who stole the show in the pro ranks at the Barclay Center.

Haney’s appearance on the canvas was becoming familiar. He had an opening to go for his left hook, but Garcia nailed it in the 11th round.

“I fell asleep on the left hook. We’ve been training for it, but I got carried away and fell asleep,” said Haney, who is also the undisputed champion at lightweight.

“I gave him a shot, so it makes sense for him to give me a shot. He didn’t make weight, so I’m still the champion. We can’t make it back up. Masu.”
