CHICAGO – Adam Borix is happy with the results he showed in his PFL debut, especially considering the circumstances he had to deal with earlier.
The former Bellator title challenger made his PFL debut last Friday on the 2024 PFL3 qualifying card. Adam Borix (19-2) defeated veteran Enrique Barsola (20-8-2) by unanimous decision to earn three points in the 2024 PFL. Featherweight season.
Borics hasn’t fought since losing to Patricio Freire in a Bellator title fight in 2022. The 30-year-old revealed he fought ‘Pitbull’ with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which was repaired after the fight, which kept him out of action for some time.
“First of all, it was my comeback game,” Borix told reporters in a postgame interview. “I had ACL surgery right after the ‘Pitbull’ fight. Most people don’t know, but I fought ‘Pitbull’ without an ACL.
“I couldn’t wait to get back in the cage and perform. It wasn’t my best performance, but I fought hard and he’s a really tough guy. You saw it. He won the second round. I survived…I’m happy, I’m back, and I’m excited about this new chapter in my career.”
Boric’s victory over Barzola was one of the most exciting matches of the night. It was a back-and-forth game with a lot of good moments for both players. Coach Borichs, who had dropped Barzola several times, was surprised by the Peruvian’s durability.
“He hits hard, but he has a chin,” Borix said. “I made a few clean shots, like a clean shot, but he was still awake, I mean, he was shaken up. He was tough, which I appreciate because we need this. I wanted to fight hard and ,I had to.”
