Cedric Doumbe is sticking with the PFL.
The French superstar and former kickboxing champion has signed a multi-fight, multi-year extension to remain in the PFL after earning the promotion after just two fights.
In addition to the new contract, Doumbe is gearing up for his next fight, facing veteran fighter Derek Anderson on the next Bellator Paris card scheduled for May 17th at Accor Arena, with the event set to take place at US Max It will be broadcast live on.
PFL officials announced Doumbe’s new contract on Monday, along with his game.
PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a press release: “Re-signing Cedric Doumbe to a multi-year contract extension has been one of our top priorities since he joined the promotion last year. It was,” he said. “Cedric has been a major contributor to our continued growth in France, and now he will continue that trajectory through our global league while also making the Bellator Champions Series available for U.S. fans to stream on Max.・I will be participating in Paris.”
After serving as the GLORY Welterweight Champion, Doumbe decided to dabble in MMA in 2021 and make the transition to MMA full-time. He made his PFL debut in spectacular fashion with an incredible 9-second KO victory in September of this year.
Unfortunately, Doumbe suffered a toe injury in the third round, forcing the referee to stop the match, and ultimately lost the fight to Baisangor Chamsuddinov, making his second appearance It didn’t go that well.
Rather than rebooking the fight, PFL officials opted to reschedule Doumbe into a new matchup with Anderson. Anderson has a 17-4 record with one no contest in his career, which includes eight years with Bellator. Anderson hasn’t fought in nearly three years since losing to Michael “Venom” Page in 2021.
Anderson will face Doumbe on May 17th at the Bellator Paris Card. In the main event, bantamweight champion Patchy Mix will defend his belt against Magomed Magomedov.
