It looks like boxing star Ryan Garcia and UFC champion Sean O’Malley could be in conflict.
“King Rye” returned to the boxing ring over the weekend against Devin Haney. Leading up to the contest, Ryan Garcia was a big loser, seemingly struggling with substance abuse and questions about his mental state. Instead, he dominated the WBC super lightweight champion and lost by majority decision. For Garcia, the win was satisfying.
Earlier today, Sean O’Malley spoke about Ryan Garcia’s win over Devin Haney on his podcast, TimboSugarShow. There, the UFC champion was so impressed by the boxing star’s victory that he expressed interest in a future match with him. That’s not surprising considering they’ve gone back and forth about the possibility of a match in the past.
“Boxing fight [with Ryan Garcia] It’s possible. “Sean O’Malley said. “Sure. We’re not there yet, we still have to grow [as a star]. Two more goddamn performances and we’ll be talking about going to the ring…I feel like we can definitely put up numbers. They told me that if I could make enough money, I would be willing to do boxing matches 100 percent. So if you can make enough money, you have enough options. ”

Ryan Garcia and UFC champion Sean O’Malley go back and forth over boxing match
Not long after Sean O’Malley’s comments about the boxing match, Ryan Garcia responded. In X, “KingRy” attached a fan-made poster showing a possible match with the UFC champion. Garcia added with the poster that O’Malley better be ready for the fight.
“Rainbow Kaka Brain wants to box,” Ryan Garcia wrote on X earlier today, responding to Sean O’Malley’s comments about his recent fight. “Be prepared for rainbows to flow.”
Judging by this brief interaction, it looks like these two stars are on track to collide in the future. However, it appears that a potential point of contention could be where the fight will take place. Ryan Garcia has announced his intention to fight Sean O’Malley in the UFC, but ‘Sugar’ is calling for the fight to take place in a boxing ring.
However, it remains to be seen whether the two sides will enter into negotiations in the first place. As of now, Sean O’Malley is scheduled to return to the cage later this year in his second UFC title defense against Merab Dvalishvili. Ryan Garcia has also expressed interest in multiple fights since his victory over Devin Haney last weekend.
