Fans were not at all happy with the refereeing of the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney fight. However, things may have gotten even worse for referee Harvey Dock as Gervonta Davis joined the match after Garcia from The Flash. During last Saturday’s showdown, Garcia got his first knockdown with a left hook in the seventh round.
However, it was quickly ignored when Doc declared it invalid and deducted points from Garcia, as he was interviewing for a break. Haney was able to collect himself, giving him the advantage. After the match, Garcia took to TikTok to express his disdain for the incident. “At the end, I played against the Illuminati, played against the referee and Devin Haney, and cracked it all. Let’s go. God did it. Jesus is King,” Garcia said. But “Tank” Davis had more to add on social media on April 21st.

Turning to X, the undefeated boxer responded to Elie Zeckbach’s tweet, who wrote, “This is the worst referee in boxing.” In response, Davis writes: “No, he knew what he was doing. You weren’t looking in his face…he was laughing!” This is certainly a serious allegation. , hints at the possibility of match-fixing, but it’s worth noting that nothing has been proven yet.
Additionally, Garcia even revealed after the fight that he was disappointed with the way the fight ended. No matter how you look at it, Garcia was aiming for a knockout victory. He writes: “It made me sad because people thought they should have bet on Kou. The ref said he should have stopped for round 7. No point deduction warranted and no warning. Crazy man.”

Despite Harvey Dock having a storied past in the sport and winning several accolades, it appears he was having a bad day at the office. Doc started his boxing career by fighting in the amateurs and he won the title of New Jersey State Amateur Boxing Champion in 1993 and 1994. He also competed in professional boxing matches, winning by unanimous decision in 1997. Although he works as both a judge and a promoter, he seems to be passionate about refereeing. Still, Garcia and Davis aren’t the only ones unhappy with hosting Harvey Doc.

After the game, Demetrius Johnson revealed his immediate reaction and expressed his disdain for the referee, although Johnson believes the referee helped Haney a lot. In a video shared on Instagram, “Mighty Mouse” said, “What was so frustrating about this match was that the referee let Haney stay in that match.”

Johnson looked at the clenching and holding during the fight, saying, “Haney is hanging on to him and the next thing he does a double leg takedown and the referee says, ‘Stop holding him.’ That’s what it felt like,” he said. It’s like, “Time, you stop holding, you stop holding, fight!” It’s like, he gave him about 15-20 seconds of rest. ” Johnson even believed the referee prevented Garcia from ending the bout with a knockout.
Although there appears to be no investigation into Harvey Docks at this time, it is likely that the incident was the result of bad judgment rather than malice. But even that hasn’t been proven. What do you think? Is Gervonta Davis right?
