Ryan Garcia appears to be in the early stages of trying to drum up fan interest in a rematch with Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
ryan’s got joke
Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) insisted today that Tank Davis will not be a “tough fight” for him and that he will be a worse opponent than he was against Devin Haney last Saturday night. Tank further added that he would “never” fight him at 145 pounds, which is likely true.
Ryan also said he thinks Haney will beat Tank, which is hard for fans to believe. Haney was repeatedly injured by Ryan in a game last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Haney’s punch tolerance may not be what it used to be after that fight, and he will be in serious trouble against someone like Tank Davis.
The tank is comfortable in a bubble
PBC coach Tank Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) will move up 10 pounds from 135 pounds to 145 pounds to face Ryan, who he forced to take a knee in the seventh round last year, in April 2023. I’m not going. Las Vegas.
Gervonta is entrenched in the lightweight division, wealthy and content, and has no interest in taking risks with his career. Moving up in weight to face a bigger and stronger version of Ryan Garcia than the one he fought a year ago is not something that interests Tank.
Tank continues to be protected in safe fights against opponents he and his management know they can win, making a lot of money.
Ryan is in the spotlight right now
Despite not having fought since then, Tank still imagined himself on the A-side in a fight with Ryan and would not have been able to mentally adapt to the changing circumstances of his career.
In reality, Ryan has surpassed the inactive Tank Davis in popularity thanks to his win over Haney and his many interviews and hard work on social media. In comparison, Tank has been laying around slowly, posting occasionally but giving very few interviews.
A rematch you’ll never see again
“It wasn’t a tough fight with Gervonta, just weaker. It’s not a tough fight for me, I’d beat Gervonta worse than I would beat Haney. He’ll never fight me at 145 pounds. So it doesn’t really matter,” Ryan Garcia told PatrickBetDavid.
“Haney wins against Tank. Tank tries to hurt him but Tank can’t reach Haney. No doubt Haney will defeat Tank.”
