Belal Muhammad envisions a shutout victory over Leon Edwards in a potential title fight.
Muhammad has so far been eluded to a title fight despite being undefeated in his last 10 fights. Until recently, Muhammad had no chance of winning gold, as Dana White revealed that “Remember the Name” was not among the three names offered to Edwards to defend his title at UFC 300. It seemed impossible.
But Muhammad’s hopes of winning sectional gold may finally be over. Edwards’ coach Dave Lovell recently revealed that the Roofsport product is likely to be the next to land him the coveted title. According to LaBelle, the title fight between Edwards and Muhammad on the UFC Manchester card scheduled for July is all but decided.
“UFC ends here in July, so there’s no doubt that Leon will be on that bill,” Lovell told talkSPORT. “Unfortunately, he was unable to pay the $300 for some reason. Shafqat, young men charged with him.”
[Rakhmonov]Khamzat [Chimaev],Islam [Makhachev], they were all fasting and we were ready to leave. that’s reality. He wasn’t on the $300 bill, so there was definitely a big contingency by Muslims.
[sic] In England, it’s Manchester, so I think it’s Beral. I’m not written in stone, but 99.9 [percent] I think it will be Belal.”
Meanwhile, Muhammad made a bold prediction when asked how he expected a potential matchup with ‘Rocky’ to play out. “Remember the Name” will look to dominate the champion on every front before dethroning him with a unanimous 50-42 decision.
“I picture me coming out and boxing him in the first round. Then in the second round, I start kicking him and hurting his body. And in the third round, I started squeezing him and hurting him with his elbows,” the 35-year-old wrote. X (Formerly known as Twitter).
“Then between rounds, my coach told me to stop playing with my food, but I didn’t listen. [fourth] During the round I started getting him down and submitting until he tapped, but I left them alone until I heard his coach yelling the magic words from the corner. And at that point, I lick my lips and point to the ground like Max Horowy, and Leon stares at me with horror in his eyes. Then I’m going to get the takedown and win 50-42 on all three judges’ scorecards. ”
I imagine me boxing him in the first round, then in the second round I start kicking him and hurting him to the body, and in the third round I start constricting him and elbowing him. I started hurting and between rounds the coach told me to stop the fight and my food but I… https://t.co/Vzc06j2aZu
