The lineup for ONE Championship’s return to the United States continues to grow, with the Singapore-based promotion announcing the addition of two new bouts to the September 6 card.
In what ONE is billing as “one of the greatest submission grappling matches of all time,” flyweight (135-pound) grappling champion Mikey Moussi takes on reigning lightweight (170-pound) champion Kade Ruotolo. will take on the challenge in a super fight. Additionally, Muay Thai veterans Liam Harrison and Seksan Oh Kwanmuang will compete in a 140-pound catchweight pairing.
Musumeshi, a five-time IBJJF world champion, has won six consecutive tournaments since joining ONE in April 2022. “Darth Rigatoni” will move up three weight classes with the aim of becoming a two-weight champion, but he also has experience competing. The bigger opponent submitted former ONE lightweight (170 pounds) Shinya Aoki in his last appearance.
Ruotolo, 21, has a 6-0 record in ONE competition. The youngest ADCC Champion in history is coming off a submission win over Francisco Rho in his most recent appearance at ONE Fight Night 21. Before facing Musumeci, Ruotolo is scheduled to make his MMA debut on June 7th against Blake Cooper.
Harrison, a three-time Muay Thai world champion from England, has two knockout victories under the ONE banner, including a come-from-behind victory over PK Saeng Chai in Muang Thai.
Kwan Muang, a former WBC Muay Thai champion, won six consecutive ONE Friday fights and subsequently earned a contract with the promotion’s global roster. Since then, he has won two of three matches and has an overall record of 8-1 over the past 15 months.
ONE Championship 168 will be held at Ball Arena in Denver and will feature a 125-pound title showdown between Jinnan Xiong and Stamp Fairtex.
