Dos Anjos has bounced between lightweight and welterweight in recent years. He first moved to 170 pounds in 2017, posting back-to-back wins over Tarek Saffiedine, Neil Magny, and Robbie Lawler in his first three appearances in the division. The Rio de Janeiro native is 5-4 as a welterweight, with his most recent victory in the division coming against Brian Barberena in December 2022.
