Michel Pereira is more than just a flashy performer inside the cage. He also has a good heart.
The UFC middleweight standout is doing his part to help those affected by the massive flooding in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state. Pereira has posted multiple updates on her Instagram account, including one in which she rescues stranded animals in flood-ravaged areas. Demolidor has also launched an online crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the victims.
“The past few days have been like this. There have been some hardships, but apart from this recent flood, all the animals have been very content,” Pereira wrote.
“What I’ve seen is horrifying. I’ve never seen anything like it in the movies, but one thing I’m sure of is that we will win this battle here, too.”
The death toll in Brazil’s state has reportedly reached 149, with more than 100 still missing. Additionally, more than 600,000 people have been forced to flee their homes. Overall, more than 2.1 million people in Brazil have been affected by flooding in some way.
Pereira had just fought in his home country, taking on Ihor Potieria in the first round of UFC 301 on May 4 in Rio de Janeiro. Pereira is reportedly scheduled to face Roman Dolidze in the UFC on June 8th at ESPN 57. However, Pereira denied accepting the match.
