Middleweights Abs Magomedov and Bruno Ferreira met on the preliminary card of UFC 308, with both fighters undefeated in 2024.
Ferreira, a signee since Season 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series, comes into this fight with back-to-back wins over Phil Hawes and Dustin Stoltzfus so far this year, earning post-fight bonuses with both wins. Magomedov, a PFL veteran, joined the UFC in 2022 following a win in KSW, but he fought once in 2024, defeating Wally Alves in May.
Ferreira is known as an action fighter with a fan-friendly style, losing only once in the first round in his 13-fight career. As for the German, he is an explosive fighter who is dangerous early on but remains vulnerable as the fight progresses.
Round 1 begins and Magomedov, a slight favorite, applies his usual pressure early. Ferreira seems content to pivot and constantly switch stances, just waiting for a clear opening before throwing. Magomedov takes a kick-heavy approach and uses his length to force the Brazilian to swing through the air. After 1, it’s 10 to 9 Magomedov based on volume.
Ferreira started the second round with more urgency, pushing his opponent back. Magomedov also comes forward and responds, but Ferreira’s big shot shakes Magomedov. Ferreira follows up with kicks and looks for a takedown on Magomedov. The Brazilian instinctively grabs the guillotine, but quickly loses it. Magomedov eventually came out on top, closing in on Ferreira, but he climbed too far and both men were sweating and slipped. Once back on his feet, Magomedov seemed the most tired of the two, not fully recovered from the big left hand he had received earlier. Ferreira senses this and lands some good punches. He then spun around for a spinning back elbow, giving him his back in the process, allowing Magomedov to return to the ground and hold out until the end of the round. Ferreira won the round 10-9 after repeatedly injuring Magomedov.
The third round started with big swings from both fighters, and it was Ferreira who hurt Magomedov again, but he wasted no time in opting for a spinning elbow and Magomedov ducked for a takedown. Ferreira got to his feet and immediately looked at the clock before Magomedov landed an explosive double leg that grounded Ferreira. With both fighters exhausted, it was the German who landed an arm triangle submission, making Bruno Ferreira the first fighter to do so in his professional career.
Official result: Abs Magomedov def. Bruno Ferreira, submission (arm triangle choke), round 3, 3:14
