Adrian Yanez bounced back from his first two losses in the UFC by stopping Vinicius Salvador in the first round at UFC Vegas 92 on Saturday.
Salvador is normally a flyweight, but he dropped weight in his last fight and had to move up to 135 pounds. There, he was chosen to be the returning opponent of Yanez, a former ranked fighter who suffered two knockout losses to ranked opponents Rob Font and Jonathan Martinez. These setbacks came after Yanez started his fights in the UFC with a 5-0 record.
As a heavy favorite, Yanez performed exactly as expected at UFC Vegas 92.
The whole fight was shocking. Yanez kept the pressure on until he found the moment to land his big right hook, dropping his Salvador. Adrian jumped on top and rained down 25 punches before referee Chris Tognoni finally decided the fight needed to be stopped.
Adrian Yanez used his postgame speech to raise awareness for disaster relief in his hometown of Houston, Texas. Houston, Texas, and the surrounding area were recently hit by a deadly storm that left at least seven people dead in the Houston area alone.
Official result: Adrian Yanez def. Vinicius Salvador TKO (right hook to ground blow) Round 1, 2:47
