UFC 300 this weekend (Saturday, April 13, 2024) will be historic. The light heavyweight title is being contested at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by recently crowned champion Alex Pereira, who will be looking to defend his title for the first time in his career after a stint at middleweight that culminated in a short-lived title reign. His first title defense at 205 pounds will be against former champion Jamahal Hill. In the co-main event, two-time champion Zhang Weili will finally clash with compatriot Yang Xiaonan, with the strawweight title on the line. This fight is not only the first fight between Chinese fighters in a UFC title fight, but also simply the first fight between Chinese fighters in the Octagon era.
These two title fights aren’t all high stakes. Also in attendance at today’s (Thursday, April 11, 2024) pre-fight press conference were Bad Mother Fucker (BMF) champion Justin Gaethje and former featherweight champion Max Holloway. Gaethje’s crown will be at stake in a highly anticipated lightweight bout.
