Ultimate Fighting Championship strawweight Ariane Carnerossi brought receipts to prove injuries sustained in her last bout.
At UFC Fight Night 241 on May 18, Brazil’s Carnerossi faced Piera Rodrigues in the preliminaries of the event. Rodriguez took down Carnerossi with a front kick and a follow-up punch, then landed two headbutts that referee Mark Smith deemed intentional. Rodriguez was disqualified for a foul, marking the first DQ in UFC history due to a headbutt.
Rodriguez later took to social media to accuse Carnerossi of being a “coward” and, while admitting he made a mistake, said Carnerossi should be ashamed of himself for winning in such a way.
“Losing a match because of a mistake I made is better than going home calling myself a ‘winner’ knowing I was a coward,” Rodriguez wrote. “Maybe it was the adrenaline, but I made a huge mistake… but I’m going to have to sleep with that lie in my head for the rest of my life!” [Ariane]
And you call yourself brave? I hope you and your team enjoy my money!”
“Soriso” quickly fired back on his own social media, saying, “The difference between humans and animals is the ability to live by the rules.” Carnelossi’s team shared medical documentation with Sherdog on Friday, including initial reports from Las Vegas and follow-up scans in his native Brazil. Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas wrote that Carnelossi was diagnosed with head trauma, a tear in the upper frenulum, nasal damage, nausea and sinusitis. The results in Brazil were even more detailed.

According to a report from the Presidente Prudente Radiology Institute, Carnerossi sustained fractures of the nasal bone, left maxillary sinus, zygomatic arch, orbital cone, and a deviated nasal septum. The damage to the zygomatic arch may have been sustained prior to the fight and may be the result of a previous injury or injury sustained during training. As a result, Carnerossi was forced to undergo surgery to repair the fractures, marking his 14th surgery since joining UFC in 2019.
