Belal Muhammad doesn’t believe Leon Edwards’ coach when he says “Rocky” wasn’t 100 percent heading into their UFC 304 bout.
Muhammad defeated Edwards by unanimous decision to reclaim the title in the main event of UFC 304 in Manchester, England last month, with Edwards claiming afterwards that he was “tired” because the fight took place after 5 a.m. BST.
Meanwhile, Edwards’ coach, Dave Lovell, said “Rocky” came into the bout with “soreness” in his back. Muhammad denied both theories and advised Edwards’ camp to come to a unanimous excuse. “Remember the Name” believes even Edwards didn’t listen to his coach and hopes no one else does either.
“He’s a laughing stock. Like I said, he was a laughing stock before the fight as a coach and he’s a laughing stock after the fight,” Muhammad told MMAjunkie.com. “It’s funny because everyone has a different excuse. Leon was like, ‘Yeah, he couldn’t sleep,’ and the coach was like, ‘Yeah, his back hurt.’ They should be on the same page. If they’re going to make excuses, they should at least discuss it beforehand. They should say, ‘Leon got attacked by someone on the way to the arena,’ some ninja or something like that.
“They’re trying to figure it out, but we had the perfect blueprint for hitting him. It was a blueprint to prevent ‘bullying,'” [Kamaru]
“It’s the Usman fight. I said it was easy, and I made it look easy. I knew he wouldn’t be comfortable with me in the cage, and it would look that way. I knew how it would go, I knew he’d make excuses. I was just listening to what it was. When the coaches talk, Leon doesn’t listen, so I hope the world doesn’t listen.”
