Beneil Dalish is being taken care of, as Dana White promised.
Darish was originally scheduled to fight Renato Carneiro at UFC 311 on Saturday at the Intuit Dome in Las Vegas. However, this card was in turmoil as the main event was canceled on the day of the weigh-in. Islam Makhachev was supposed to defend his lightweight title against Arman Tsarukyan in the headliner. However, Tsarukyan was forced to leave at the last minute due to a hip injury.
Dariush received a phone call from coach Ali Abdelaziz informing him that there may be a last-minute change. Darish, who had already lost to ‘Ahal Karakets’ in 2023, was hoping for a surprise title win, knowing that the UFC would not immediately offer him a rematch. While aiming for a title shot, Darish quickly learned that the UFC had chosen “Moicano” over him. However, White promised that “Benny” would take care of the canceled reservations for the Carneiro fight.
The lightweight veteran recently revealed that he will receive both the show and the prize money for the canceled UFC 311 bout. And while Darish would have preferred to win gold, he understands the UFC’s decision.
“It’s great. I can’t complain. They give me show money and prize money, so a lot of people say, ‘I hope they take good care of you.’ They are,” Darish told The Schmo. “I’m grateful to Dana, to the UFC, to Hunter. They didn’t recant anything that I could complain about. I even understand why they made that decision. So I really can’t complain. I wish they had a chance to fight for the title, but I can’t complain because what they did was the right thing to do. If I were in their shoes, I would probably do the same thing. .”
