The Professional Fighters League playoff event on Aug. 16 will feature several promising prospects.
Biaggio “Ali” Walsh will face Corey Taylor in a lightweight showcase bout on the night’s main card, while Jordan Oliver will face Braydon Akeao in a featherweight prelim bout. The Ali Walsh vs. Taylor bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com, and the Oliver vs. Akeao bout was first reported by BJPenn.com. Sherdog.com then confirmed the booking of both bouts with promotion officials.
Ali Walsh, the grandson of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, compiled a 6-1 record as an amateur, with five of his wins coming under the PFL banner. He made his pro debut in February in a PFL vs. Bellator Champions match, winning by unanimous decision against Emmanuel Palacios.
Meanwhile, Taylor owns a 4-0 record as a pro and has knocked out every opponent he’s faced on the regional circuit within the first round.
Oliver, a two-time NCAA national champion wrestler at Oklahoma State University, made his mixed martial arts debut last August at Bellator 298, defeating Andrew Triolo by submission in the first round. He was scheduled to compete at PFL 6 on June 28, but several opponents were unable to attend.
Akeo has won five fights and lost three since making his pro debut in 2018. His last fight came at CFFC 131 on April 12, where he lost a unanimous decision to Ricardo Fuentes.
PFL 8 will take place at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida and will feature playoff bouts in the light heavyweight and lightweight divisions.
