Despite losing to Nasouddin Imavov on Saturday, Brendan Allen believes he can beat Doricus du Plessis.
Allen faced Imavov in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 243 at the Accor Arena in Paris. Allen controlled Imavov on the ground in the early going, but as the fight progressed, the Frenchman broke All In with his legs and earned a unanimous decision victory.
Allen has been keeping an eye on current champion du Plessis for many years, hoping that a victory over Imavov would earn him the title against the South African national team. Du Plessis seized the opportunity to hurt Allen immediately after his loss at UFC Paris.

Mr. Allen was quick to react, accusing Mr. du Plessis of constantly avoiding him. Allen also insisted he could beat the middleweight champion, although he didn’t fight Imavov.
“He says he’s been avoiding me since he came in,” Allen wrote. “We don’t all take the easy path. Tonight wasn’t my night…but I’m still feeling bad.”
The person says he has been deceiving me ever since he joined. We don’t all take the easy path. Tonight wasn’t good…but I’m still going to fuck you

Imavov extended his win streak to three with his victory over Allen and will likely be involved in title contention in the near future. Meanwhile, Allen’s seven-game winning streak ended with the loss. The middleweight title fight has been at a bit of a standstill since du Plessis defended the strap against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 in August of this year. Sean Strickland, who was stripped of the title by ‘Stillnox’ in a controversial split decision in January, is adamant he will fight for the title next. Meanwhile, the matchup between top contenders Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker scheduled for October 26th at UFC 308 also has title eliminator implications.
