Shaw confirmed the postponement on his YouTube channel on Monday, February 12, 2024, announcing that the match would not take place due to a breach of contract. Shaw’s full statement on this issue can be found below.

Breach of contract
Shaw was in the midst of training a week before the scheduled fight, training various skills from ground control to energy conservation during his preparation. After some striking and grappling, Show revealed that the match was canceled due to his breach of contract (no details given). Mr Shaw said he was “frustrated and angry”.

The report claims: Hooper announced on his Instagram Story that the fight was canceled because the promoter reduced the contract sum from $30 million to $3 million per fighter.

“At some point, we’ve got to get some answers. I’d love to give it a go. I’m ready to do it and I’m training for it, so let’s give it a go,” Shaw said. Said. “I’m proud of the way I approached and I’m proud that I committed to this 100 percent. When something like this happens, you have to take a step back and take a deep breath.”
“This is very unfortunate for me because at this point, for the past five months, I’ve been diving headfirst into the show. I was dedicated to getting as prepared as possible for this fight.” added that he has had great coaches who have mentored him to prepare him for the level he is at today. Part of Shaw’s frustration was that preparing for this fight came with an opportunity cost of time away from work and family.
Despite the postponement, Shaw sought the silver lining of learning new skills, working with a team of great coaches and improving his conditioning. Indeed, Shaw said his main reason for attending his fight was for the financial security it provided him and his family.
The 2024 Finishers Championship Qatar, to be held on February 17th, will still go ahead, with the exception of Shaw and other leading competitors who were originally scheduled to participate, according to the event’s official website. .
