Coming off two impressive first-round knockout wins in January and June, Bruno Ferreira is excited to return to the Octagon on Aug. 24 at UFC Fight Night against Roman Kopylov.
However, on Monday, “The Hulk” was informed that his Russian opponent had withdrawn from the bout.
“Once again I received some not-so-good news,” Ferreira said in an Instagram video. “My fight with Roman Kopylov has been canceled. It’s true that the Russian said he doesn’t want to fight me. In fact, it’s the second time. [time]. [Sharabutdin
Magomedov] We did the same thing. Strangely enough, they’re both strikers.”
UFC 304: Edwards vs. Muhammad airs Saturday at 10pm ET on ESPN+. Order yours now! Ferreira ended the video with a question for his followers.
“Why do you think the Russians don’t want to fight me?” he asked. “Maybe it’s because they know how tough I am in grappling and also because I have knockout power. What do you guys think?”
Shortly after this video was posted, Sherdog.com interviewed Ferreira, who revealed that his manager is in negotiations to keep him on the same card as the fight against Abdul Razak Al Hassan.
“He already has two fights against me,” Ferreira said of Al Hassan. “Hopefully it can happen this time.”
Ferreira also revealed that the promotion had scheduled his bout with Alhassan for August 10, but wanted to keep the original date as his leg injury is still healing. Ferreira and Alhassan were previously scheduled to fight on May 20 and July 1, 2023, but both bouts were canceled. Alhassan made a brief appearance in the Octagon on July 13, when his bout against Cody Brundage at UFC on ESPN 59 was declared a no contest after “Judo Thunder” landed multiple illegal elbows to the back of his opponent’s head.
