Caio Boralho has no doubts that Khamzat Chimaev can dethrone Drix du Plessis.
Chimaev scored a dominant first-round submission victory over Robert Whittaker in the co-main event of UFC 308 on October 26th at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. That performance may have been enough to earn the Chechen-born Swede his next title at 185 pounds, which was previously promised to Sean Strickland.
Boralho is very confident in the outcome of a potential clash between Chimaev and du Plessis. The Natural believes du Plessis will suffer the same fate as Whittaker did with Chimaev, even if it takes a little longer. Du Plessis is undoubtedly a better wrestler than ‘Bobby Knuckles’, but Boralho doesn’t think the South African can hold his own on the ground against Chimaev.
“I think it’s definitely Khamzat.” [will win]. I think it’s going to be the same as Robert,” Boralho told Submission Radio. “I know Dorikas has a little more wrestling skill than Rob…I don’t think there’s anyone out there that can imitate Khamzat’s wrestling. He doesn’t have the system or the way it works. I don’t know. What do you really want when Khamzat catches you? So I think it’s definitely going to be the same thing as Rob. I don’t know if it’s going to be that fast, but it’s definitely going to be a good win for Khamzat. think”
Boralho, who is currently on a seven-fight winning streak, could face a clash with Chimaev. However, Boralho has a good relationship with Chimaev’s team, especially jiu-jitsu coach Alan “Finfo” Nascimento, and would like to avoid the nomination if possible. However, Boralho has already told Nascimento that he will not turn down Chimaev if the UFC makes an offer.
“Khamzat Chimaev is definitely a guy I don’t want to play against…just because we’re friends,” Boralho said. “But I told his coach, who is a very good friend of mine, that if the UFC offered me this fight, I would definitely fight.” ”So I just wanted to let you all know that. ”
