Casey O’Neill celebrated her win at UFC 305 by imitating Australian breakdancer Rachel Gunn’s Olympic performance.
O’Neal bounced back from two straight poor fights with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Luana Santos on Saturday night at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. “The King” celebrated her victory by mocking Gunn’s recent viral Olympic breakdancing performance.
Speaking of celebrations, O’Neill believes his performance is better than that of the Australian university breakdancer known as “Raygun”, who has received serious online abuse for his bizarre show at the Paris 2024 Olympics. O’Neill even joked that he would take a break from mixed martial arts to take up breakdancing in order to represent Australia at the 2028 Olympics.
“I’d give it a 10. I think I did better than her at the Olympics,” O’Neal told media after the match. “If I come back in 2020, I might have to take a break from MMA and go for the gold medal.”
Gunn, a lecturer in Macquarie University’s School of Media, Communication, Creative Arts, Languages and Literature, made her Olympic debut in breakdancing, a discipline that is being introduced for the first time at Paris 2024. After losing 54-0 on aggregate across her three round-robin matches, Gunn was widely criticised online for her moves, including the “Snake” and “Kangaroo”. The 36-year-old defended her performance, saying she had to get creative as she was no match for her younger opponents in terms of athleticism. The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) later defended Gunn and criticised the harsh backlash she faced online.
