Charles Oliveira remains interested in fighting Conor McGregor if the Irishman wins his return fight against Michael Chandler.
McGregor will return after a nearly three-year hiatus in a welterweight matchup against Chandler in the main event of UFC 303 on June 29th. Given that McGregor is 1-3 in his last four fights and “Iron” is 2-3 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship — and both have been relatively inactive — Oliveira is a good candidate for this matchup. I don’t think it has much to do with the title. However, the former champion admits that given the Irishman’s star power, a victory for ‘The Notorious’ could inch him closer to gold. And ‘de Bronx’ believes the former two-division champion will get the job done.
“I actually think it’s a win-win fight for both sides. That’s the reality,” Oliveira recently told Full Violence.Fight for money…I think Connor [wins]”
Oliveira previously called for McGregor after defeating Justin Gaethje via first-round submission at UFC 274 in May 2022. Brazilian Oliveira is still open to fighting McGregor, but the Dubliner believes he would not accept the fight if offered.
“Well, we all know that. In fact, I’ve asked for this match with Conor a thousand times, but I think it’s a match that he doesn’t want and everyone knows that.” Oliveira said. I want it because it brings me a lot of money. ”
McGregor is known as one of the best trash talkers in the history of the sport, and at times even manages to use that to get inside his opponents’ minds. Oliveira believes that if given the chance, he would laugh it off and not be bothered by McGregor’s trash talk.
“Well, actually, everyone sells the fight in a different way,” Oliveira said. “That’s the way he sells, he keeps swearing and talking. Of course I laughed a lot. But I would continue the same way, head straight, feet straight, sitting on the ground. , that’s for sure. I’d like to reach out to see if he does. Just don’t touch me, I don’t want to touch you.”
